A legitimate automated crawler, including AI systems reading pages to answer questions, as distinct from scrapers and malicious traffic.
A good bot is a crawler you want visiting: search engine crawlers and, increasingly, AI systems reading pages to answer user questions.
Separating good bot activity from noise, and tracking it per page over time, shows whether the systems that increasingly mediate discovery are actually reading your content.
Bot identification is imperfect. User agents can be spoofed, and verification depends on reverse DNS or published IP ranges that not every operator provides. Treat bot data as strong evidence, not certainty.
